 July 22, 2008: Thursday night I got a phone call from my mother with some devastating news. My oldest friend on the planet and one of my dearest all during my childhood years, was found dead in her house in Maui. Krissie and I grew up together (we were only 4 months apart) and our mother's were
best friends for close to 60 years! I was named after Ela (my middle
name) who was Krissie's mother. Krissie and I had the most fabulous
adventures together because she was so creative and fun and no matter
what we did, we did it with style and a massive amount of energy. She
was artistic beyond what I can explain in this little space here. Her
mother passed away two years ago and her father just last April.
Krissie was extremely close to her father and called him every day. I
think his death was unbearable for her and I know she is at peace with
him now. I will miss her dearly and this photo has always been my favorite of any photo in my collection, because it's so typical of who we were. (Krissie of course is the one in charge on the left, and I'm the demure shy one on the right)
