 Well, this was the 4th frozen bottle, and down to the last day to get one that I liked. I like the fact that where the lable is on the bottle it is clear ice.

Basically I took an empty bud bottle, filled it with water to make it sink, capped it, then put it in a small trash can full of distilled water and froze it.

Took it out of the freezer a couple hours before shooting so that it would be melted enough to slip out of the trash can. Chipped away the top of the ice so that it did not look so "even". Shot on my black velvet background which will never be the same. One studio light to camera left in an umbrella, and another almost 90 degrees camera right with a snoot, pointed at the glass.

In hindsight I would have rather had a frostier beer glass and a reflector behind the glass to make the beer lighter because the black background made it go really dark.

Unfortunately with basic editing I could not dodge it to bring it up lighter. Oh well. it is what it is.

prediction for score 6.2. possibly as low as 5.7. dream score would be a 7.

nice still life and effort to freeze the beer in ice--good idea on emptying the bottle first! I've had many explode in the freezer. I think you'll get nailed on your border though.

To my mind this picture represented cold more than any other. It is also a clear, sharp image and I like the idea. Great photo.
