Used this challenge as an excuse to download and play around with Helicon Focus. Didn't get around to it until Sunday, and this was my second set of images that I ran through the program. Pretty cool -- love that great depth of field.
Set up the flower in my light tent outdoors with the sun behind the petals. Shot ten RAW images with my old 100mm macro on a 3x extension tube, manually adjusting focus between each shot.
Adjusted exposure, clarity, vibrance, saturation, and contrast in Lightroom. Synced adjustments, then exported as TIFF images. Combined images in Helicon Focus, saved as a new TIFF. Edited combined image in Lightroom, mainly some color and saturation adjustments and curves. Exported to PSElements, cloned out dust spots, resized, USM, border, S4W
