 2 cups Japanese rice
1 Salmon Filet
2 eegs
a Cucumber
Seaweed
Ginger
Wasabi
Soy sauce

Boil the rice
cook the eggs with soy sauce as if you were making an omlette then cut into strips
cut the best part of the Salmon for Sashimi and then the rest should be cut into strips.
Pass the seaweed over the fire to soften
Spread the rice evenly on to the sheet of seaweed
add the strips of salmon and sliced cucumber and the egg.

Now the fun part - Roll the sushi using a bamboo rolling mat, this gets easier after about 10 years.

fill a container with soy sauce and another with the Gali (ginger) Add Wasabi to the plate or you can (if brave enough) add it to the roll before you roll it.

Enjoy, Japanese Osushi & Sashimi.

this is the best of the top 5, i think. you had total control of the lighting... some of the others seem blown out, but yours is beautiful.

Nice work Marac. I also went for Sushi as you can see. I found that the seaweed doesn't photograph very well though.

This is too sharp (bet you thought you'd never hear that one...huh?).
The current style of food photography rarely if ever has everything in focus. If the food image is being used to idendentify specific product such as, a spice, an herb, a fish or utensil, etc. only then is sharp focus necessary. Otherwise full dof food images went out with Betty Crocker Cookbooks in the 1970/s/80's. Cheers!

Having said that, this will probably place better than my shot.

Composition of elements, lighting and colors are all wonderful in this photo. The food is wonderfully arranged with the composition. The lighting illuminates your subjects wonderfully such that the viewer can fully appreciate the food set before them. Good job on this one 9.
