Well, this was shot entirely because of a bet I made with  Viktor, our photograpic intern at the ad firm I work at. He went to Þórsmörk that weekend, a landscape photographers paradise so he had a bit of an advantage as I had a wedding that saturday and another photoshot on sunday. I only got around to shoot for this challenge at about 11 pm on the last day and got home at around 1:30 am (wich was ok since we are 4 hours behind EST so the deadline was 4am here in Iceland).
Well the light was not perfect for this location but we had bet lunch over who won in this challenge so I was sure as hell going to enter something but I was very tired so I only spent about 5 minutes or so editing and coming up with a title. Have actually used this title for another shot from the same spot, shame on me... :)
Anyway as for editing, the sky was so much brighter than the foreground and since I couldn´t do no spot editing (basic editing rules of course) I had to darken it in raw conversion and then run several passes with shadow/highlights to then brighten the dark parts of the picture, leading to the ugly banding artefacts in the water. I then tweaked the colors both with color balance, curves and selective color and then used curves to increase contrast, resized and sharpened+added a black border.
Used a polarizer to get the funky partially darker sky on the left.
This is how the shot would have looked if I had edited within the advanced rules and had more time.
