Ants are truly amazing creatures. I wrote something about them once that was published in the newspaper, but haven't yet been able to take a decent photo of them. This shot tells a lot about them.

I never got a chance to go through the pics in this challenge until now, so only just spotted this.

Wonderful shot, would have got a 10 for sure (though as an ex entomologist I may just be a little biased ;)

Great idea! Nice shallow DOF - creates a wonderful dappled background. Focus doesn't seem sharp enough on the ant itself.

Is the ant really holding up the blade of grass as it appears? These truly are strong little creatures, and this is an amazing portrait of one.

Such a quietly beautiful image! It's hard to critique this. Perhaps a sharper focus on the ant and blade--but I think the subject and depth of field make that difficult. Bumping you up on the scores for the second time.....

One of the best pictures at meeting this challengeĂ¢€™s theme; I gave it high marks but I gave a few others higher just due to the fact IMO that the right side is more unfocused and it unbalances the picture in my eye's when I look at it. Still it is a good shot. Deserving of an 7.69 in my book and since I cant score this like that :) Ă¢€Â¦ 8 Good Luck in the challenge.

Great shot, shame about the noise levels... did you try NeatImage? Used on the background you could really make the foreground pop out. Shame the ant isn't sharper, I can see you've already tried sharpening in Photoshop.

Nice Pic... I had the same idea for this challenge. Went camping this last weekend but could not find the right ant carrying something big (You would think that I could find something in South Africa?). I like your picture and the DOF. Great Idea :->

I like this. Pound for pound, insects are among the strongest creatures around, so it fits well with the theme. Well exposed. Nicely framed. Effective DOF. 8
