I was very pleased to come across this scene of an oystercatcher on a red car in a car park. The little still life in the window just accentuates the absurdity of the scene. Shot at 200mm, exposure compensation of -1/3 of a stop to remove any bias the reflected sky added and keep the bird's plumage from blowing out. He couldn't have picked a better car to perch on - the red and black parts match his legs and back perfectly, granting this a natural limited pallette. The boxing gloves counterpoint the sillyness of the whole thing, and the bird is looking very smug indeed.

Editing: crop, contrast adjustment, cloning out little bits of dust and muck on the windscreen, resize, sharpen.
I considered the title "red shell", what with the bird being an oystercatcher, the oyster here being red, and a red shell being a weapon in mario kart (which brings it back to the automotive theme), but i didn't think most of the voters would have got it. |

| Oyster Catchers always amuse me - they are such unlikely looking birds! Its a crisp catcher, and mildly amusing with the bird on the car bonnet. |
