This is taken in the large ballroom/salon of the Wiesbaden Kurhaus. The city of Wiesbaden celebrated the 60th anniversary of the Berlin Airlift (much of the coordination for the airlift was done in Wiesbaden) by having a bit of a party at the Kurhaus. In this gorgeous room they had at least three bands play - while I was there it was a delightful jazz band. Next up was a swing band.

VERY dark in there, but the room and the light were so lovely, I had to try. Handheld at 1/50th and ISO 1600. Did I mention it was dark? :-) The gorgeous colors were created with lights you can see along the sides, not anything I did in post processing. Processing was most definitely within the basic ruleset - levels, curves, brightness/contrast, saturation, wee bit of Neat Image, crop, sharpen, resize.

Not expecting anything scorewise, just wanted to enter the challenge (haven't entered anything in quite awhile) and share a view of this lovely place.

Post challenge - Judi is quite right - I really should have had a tripod with me! But I don't think I'll get the opportunity again to see the inside of this place lit up like this.

Beautiful colors and fun, wide angle.

I disagree with Judi. At the focal lengths available on that lens, 1/50s should be plenty fast. I mean, I take shots with 50mm lenses at 1/60 handheld all the time without a problem.

The slight blurring is probably due more to the wide aperture than the shutter speed.

Another "thumbs up" for the strong colors. I like the wide angle, too.

This is a nice long exposure, but the colors kinda dont do it for me. Try it in black and wihte. It might be more dramatic
