 My dad has been recuperating from a serious infection at a nursing facility. His friend (and former student) Ann came by with her one year old, Daphne. Some of the long-term residents had made some paper decorations for the door -- I used them to frame her.

This was shot in an institutional dining room, with lousy fluorescent lighting and a few incandescent lamps on the fans; I had to use a noisy ISO setting of 400 to get even a still-too-slow exposure of 1/15 second -- but I guess that Image-Stabilization stuff might work for real!

I was preparing this for a print, so there are some extra pre-resizing sharpening steps I would normally skip.

-Handheld, Program mode, Auto WB
-Noise-reduction with PictureCooler
-Cloned-in some more door at left/top/right to allow a better crop
-Crop from left/right/bottom
-RGB Curve
-USM at 12%/48 dia/TH = 0
-USM at 88%/0.8 dia/TH = 7
-Resize
-USM at 88%/0.8 dia/TH = 7
-SaveAs JPEG at quality 9/10 = 279kb

Thank you, GeneralE for showing you steps in creating this delicately lovely image of Daphne. Yes, if you make a print of this for Ann, you will have given a keepsake they will treasure. You have captured the brand-new wonder of a child beautifully in this image.
