 there are only two wasps left surviving on their nest as they die off as the colder months approach .. the two left wont live much longer or will abandon the nest and go to some sheltered place & hibernate during winter ..
i decided to put a flower on the nest so i could get a more interesting photograph, because i've only ever photographed them on the nest .. i was hoping i wouldnt get stung, because i've read their sting is extremely painful !!..
i picked a few different wattle varieties and gently and slowly placed one of them on the nest.
this is wattle that she's eating, not some squashed bug ..
i didnt get stung.
this is the original photograph ..

processing steps were .
open jpeg in cs3 ..
did lucisart on wasp .
shadow and highlight ..
black & white conversion which i erased from a lot of the image and also made opacity 33%
adjustment layers in levels and colour balance ..
scaled up and rotated a bit ..
smart sharpen ..

this is another shot of the same wasp .

Kind of sad...the cycle of life- wonderful processing. While this is a very slow side-challenge, I am learning a lot & am happy that you did not abandon us :)

the moodiness of this shot with just a bright touch where the creatures are
in focus is so very exciting. You're a past mistress at this Roz. WHAT
will you do when the last wasp goes away!!!
