His face is so overposed and hers underposed that it creates a disconnect between the two.

It's not screaming 'Portrait' to me however, I do like it and it's the only 'in color' photo that I gave a 10 too. I think your photo should be in the top 10. I really like all the subtle blues. They really seem to have a lot of contrast with each other.

I like the lighting and the crop. The title and the photo are about the expressions. His is great with a lot of emotion and expression. Hers is somewhere between dreaming and boredom.

Great facial expression on the guy. I normally don't like the top of the head being cut off but it works well in the case, however I don't like it at the other end where her chin is cut off
