Mulitple Layers (at least half a dozen) create a blending effect of a red velvet rose on black & white background, Layers include one each of Black & White conversions to Infrared, Portrait, Landscape, Newspaper, and Urban Snapshots, followed by blending formats that included Overlay, Soft Light, Pin Light, Screen, Multiply, and Luminosity, Magic Wand (to grab the bloom and enable selective desaturation of background elements,) Select Inverse, Stamp Visible, Multiple Opacity Changes, Layer Order, Warming Filter, Stamp Visible (again,) Burn Tool, Blur Tool, Smudge Tool (to remove the upper part of a stem (Big distraction for me,) Cropped, Adjust Sharpness, USM, Despeckle, Dust & Scratches, Reduced Noise, Resized, USM, Saved for Web...

not really a fan of the red only saturation, maybe if you would have kept a little background color it woudl have helped, but i like the placement of the flower in the frame

Did you do layer mask and a gau's blurr in Photoshop on this one as I think the effect was a bit 'overdone' right along the edge of the flower.. but still nice..;)
