Oh, that is so cute. I have never seen a little one under the wing like that. This image makes me think of a sketch I bought about 40 years ago. It was of a baby camel nursing, and the mother's head was not shown. I think a slight vignetting (in all four corners) would help this image. The line of the mother's neck takes the eye up and out of the picture. With the vignetting, focus would be directed more toward the center and the missing head wouldn't be an issue.
P.S. I found the missing head. Mary took it on Day 4.

Cute little one! I would have liked to see Mom's head in the shot too. Amazing clarity for ISO 1600. |

Bob - great shot !
Very well spotted and captured.
With the IS on the lens you've got you can afford to go way slower than that hand held, I have a picture of a Mandarin Duck on my profile that was hand held at 1/60th, so you may have got away with ISO 400 on this.
Have you got a spare goose head you could paste into this to bring mum back in :- ) |

I hate Canadian Geese expect for the little chicks. This is such a cute shot, I see hundreds of geese daily and have never once seen one do this. Maybe I should pay them more attention from now on =) |

Just adorable :-) I saw a mom hiding 9(!) goslings under her wings! It's very sweet that they do that and you captured it nicely. |

Good timing, and it looks great for an iso 1600 shot. You have good subjects nearby for this side challenge. |
