I'm a chemist by profession, but if I took a photo of what I really do it would bore you to death.

Too dark and the lighting is not very good.

There are some interesting effects at play in this photo. The combination of colours, the light on the yellow vial and of course the smoke all work together really well to portray the chemistry effect. I think your composition is a bit lacking though, I can understand the inclusion of a person in the shot but in this case she is under utilised as she occupy's over half the picture and you can't make her out too well. I think you should have concentrated on your main subject more to underline the Chemistry aspect and if you had wanted to include a human element, a hand or something would have been enough, particularly with subtle lighting. 4 from me.

I like the idea but wish the lighting was brighter at the top of the of the photograph. (6)

the main subject is a bit small here; with a lower angle you could have laid more focus on the chemicals while still including the face

nice use of set up and soft lighting to show the reaction - i wish the woman were slightly better illuminated in her face

Think just a little more light on woman's face would have really made this image pop.

Nice picture, great setup. Lifting the beakers slightly (or lowering the scientist) would have produced a squarer image which in my opinion would have given a more pleasing composition, but still a great image as it is.
