Single 800w flash unit, maybe 1/4 power, into an umbrella, low down, pointed away. Thought I might be able to get a Rembrandt light thing going on, but not so sure. Should have used a shorter DOF.

It's hard enough shooting a model but it takes real skill to shoot a sp and achieve this type of result. The lighting is spot on. Amazing!

I like the portrait, but the only thing that bugs me is the part of the chair at the bottom.

I really like this, and it is certainly one of the stronger entries, but I do wish it wasn't sharpened to the point where every pore is visible.

I like the way the composition is cut up into areas of light and dark. It's jagged. Attention grabbing. 8.

05/29/2008 04:14:58 AM
Well lit but watch out for the burnt shadows - it's just a bit too much here. Dead sharp, though.

05/28/2008 04:10:07 PM
The shadows are good. Makes it a very 'weighty' image.

MASTERFUL lighting and exposure - a true BW portrait in the best and most classic sense. Kinda looks like the "Jack character from "Lost" - dang - that's the second time I've compared a portrait to a Lost character - I have to quit watching that show. Well, best of luck - this is the best I've seen so far - seems like an easy top 10 if not a ribbon.

i think we have winner here.....this stands out among the bunch of snapshots and poor images in the show
