 This is a Red Fox that was rescued and sent to Back to the Wild, a local wildlife rescue organization.

We were told that this fox was one that was retrieved from an individual who was selling this one and some siblings at Flea Markets as pets (can you believe it???). Apparently someone had dug out their nest and took them home to feed them and get them used to people. The person was caught and this one was the only one left. Wish I had more of the story. It's amazing what people will do for a little $$$ these days.

Oh the background looks the way it does because I shot this thru a fence. And it came over and sat and posed for me :)

What a gorgeous picture of the fox Michelle. I've never seen a fox up close and they are really beautiful - you did a great job here too!

i always love finding this photo:) it usually appears when im wandering around aimlessly, but it always makes me happy, kinda. the beauty makes me happy, the story make me angry. grawr to all the nasty people out there!

Congrats on your top 20 entry. Lovely color and clarity. I like the effect caused by the fence, it almost appears to be an overlay. Plus this little fellow is so handsome and well-groomed, it makes me wonder if you combed out his beard before taking his portrait! :-D

Great story (in the interesting rather than positive sense of the word) and a great image (as in the positive sense of the word). There were a couple of foxes in the free study and I thought that this stood out a mile. Super sharpness and wonderful rich colours. Thanks for explaining about the background, I had wondered but understand that it was circumstance and bot chice

What a beautiful animal. You really did it justice. The background is amazing. Normally you think of backgrounds contrasting with the subject, but this matching background is the perfect complement. I love it.
