Thank you Michael it's not any roots or brush or anything, it's a tree as I mentioned in the descrption, and it's a huge one so I really had no other background option than the verry bright sky that whas available that day. It's beyound me why it grew like this, I'm not sure if everyone knows, but it's supose to be a normal weeping willow, that's why people here are continously amazed with it, and it became sort of a landmark in my city. I made it sepia because as spring starts to show up it had some green branches, that were looking a bit distracting, other than that overall it is not verry different from the original, the brown colors are 99% the same, and I really can't see any difference between the cloudless and too bright sky here and in the original.

Although I am not sure exactly what this object is, it appears to be the roots of a tree or bush. The more solid masses on the left, top, and right side combine to form an arched shape framing the sparser, more finely divided branches in the center and creating a nice composition.
To me, the shapes and colors of the image convey a somewhat somber feeling, which could have been enhanced with a slightly darker background. The brightness of the background is a bit over exposed and causes the finer root structures in the center of the photo to loose definition. The dark shadowed areas at the top and the variations of light striking the roots provide a nice range of tones. I think this image was a good choice for conversion to sepiaĆ¢a technique much overused on this site and one I normally do not like. However, in this particular photo it seems to complement the subject nicely. Although, I still wonder how the photo looked in its original colors.
Overall, this is a very good photo that does a superb job of meeting the difficult criteria for the Chaos challenge. I offer you my congratulations for winning the blue ribbon. It was well deserved.
Regards,
Mick

I did not vote on this challenge but I certainly would have given it a 10. It is nice to see a natural chaos instead of a created one. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Congrats on your first ribbon. This was one of my highest votes. It reminded of a shot I took once but had no way of re-creating for the challenge. I knew when I first saw it that it would do well. |

Reminiscent of M. Beguin ... not only in the treatment of tone and contrast, but in the slightly unorthodox but yet effective composition. Oh to have this kind of eye ... |

as i look through these photos, the nature ones seem EXTREMELY ordered to me...at a shallow reading, maybe you can squint you eyes to some chaos, but i usually end up seeing a very orderly system...this reminds me more of fractals than does the cloud shot a few pics back. |

Interesting shot - bit hard to tell from this, but I wonder if you could have used a directional flash to brighten up the shadows at the top of the photo. It's just a bit dark compared to the rest of it. Good luck in the challenge |

Impressive selection for "Chaos" The lights, darks and mid tones all compliment each other nicely. Great angle, high marks for a difficult challenge. |
