I saved an e-mail from IreneM from when she graciously described how she shot a leaf on an opaque glass surface.

I set up the glass on 4 tall glasses and lit from just below and did my best to shoot the Sony at eye level. I adjusted the lighting until the reflection was clearer...following along with the instructions as best I could.

I figured B&W was best so I did that using channel mix.

For me, this is pretty advanced stuff with so many considerations. It's no wonder the WOW factor still alludes me.

If I score into 5's, it might bump my average into 5 range!

I would have expected this to have scored higher. I really like the fact that it has grain to it - makes perfect sense for a portrait of a camera. And nice work with the conversion to B&W. I may have to try that shooting on glass thing, if I can find some opaque glass. I think this worked very well!

I agree with the others, Deb. This should have scored higher. Great what one can do with a piece of glass and 4 tumblers and a good eye ;-) Super work, looking forward to seeing more.

Deb - the lighting looks AWESOME!!! And the focus is excellent too. I like how the touch of grain adds a slight nostalgic feel. One of your best studio shots for sure. The score does not reflect that. So just take my word for it. :D
