 Ok well this picture was like an art project with my little sister. She gave me the idea of this flower border. We made it all out of construction paper, first cut out the circle then glued on the pedals one by one. After I took the picture and began editing I found this cool effect, edged I think it was called and I felt it worked perfectly for this challenge. Im sure some of the DPC users might not like this idea too much but I guess Ill just have to wait and see.


This is the shot before I edited. I didn't know how to edit it in the top right corner to make the white paper or the blue petals look smooth. I was trying to work with microsoft photo editor (my boyfriend is borrowing my laptop which has adobe photoshop on it) and it just doesn't have alot of tools I could work with, so the edge effect was the best thing I could do at the time. Just the color shot as is would have probably done better.

It's a cute idea and I cannot believe all the work you put into creating the background lol. You will find in time that voters do not like artsy filters here beyond either Photomatix or any HDR stuff. I cannot give a good answer as to why tho even tho I can point you to one comment that I got a long time ago that would give you some idea about it. Good luck on future challenges!

I don't get it. It looks like a rotated product image, some clip art, and some over-the-top photoshop filters applied. Far from a portrait and far from a photograph. Perhaps I'm missing the point, but to me it's just generally unappealing. Or look at it this way - if you had your portrait taken and someone delivered your rotated head in a flower, would it be what you expected?

To be honest, I really don't think this effect works for this challenge. It feels more like a logo than a portrait.

Cool idea. Would like it better if it actually looked like a picture, or photography and not a piece of digital art.

Another shot that doesn't press the right buttons for me I'm afraid. The 'petals' grab my attention and keep it! I think it might just be this type of editing that I am not a fan of, sorry.
