Thanks for the great comments.
This is a self portrait. If you look at the photo closely you will see the leg of my homemade tripod extending from the frame. I built a contraption that attached to the forks and secured the camera five feet in front of me. I used the timer on the camera to give me enough time to jump on the bike and start peddling. My little FUJI E550 has a small video screen so the shot looked great in the field. I must have gotten some camera shake from the vibration off the bike. I didn't notice the soft focus until I got home and put it up on my bigger monitor. By then it was too late. I knew I would get crushed in the voting but I have always been more interested in the commentary. Still, I had a great time with this project.
Matt

Ok, what did you do to snap this from 12 inches, hold the camera behind your back and shoot blind? |

Rider's face seems out of focus. |

Great close-up... wow... I don't even want to think of the setup involved in this photo. Excellent framing. |

It would have been a great shot if the subject were less blurry. |

A great concept, however, it could have been a little sharper overall. |

Neat idea, but his the focus on his face is a little soft. I think you need a deeper depth of field. |

Focus is not quite on his face, but this really conveys the speed and effort involved. |

This would have been a great photo if you could have gotten his face a little more sharp with the background having more motion blur. |

Nicely done Dad. How did you get the camera in front of you?
The only thing I do not like is the slight blur of the face. But I am sure that is just from the depth of field and the motion. Looks like a hard shot to get though. MW |

I want the focus to be on his glasses and face, there does not seem to be a strong focus in this image |

soft focus and the sense of speed could've been enhanced greatly by going to the far end of a zoom + minimizing the aperture... |

the focus point seems to be on the arms which are sharp and not the face... |
