During one of our frequent visits to Beacon Hill petting zoo one of the peacocks came into the goat pen and began displaying. I crouched down to shoot and he kept coming closer, a step at a time. When he got within arm's reach I decided it was time to move, because I wasn't sure just what he had in mind. Now I wish I'd risked a peck for a closer shot!
Editing is on a single layer, all basic except a touch of burning. Was just a series of tweaks via USM, levels and curves.
Postchallenge; I asked in a thread about the oversharpening comments.
FWIW, processing was two runs of USM@20%/60pxl radius, tiny adjustment to black level, and small curves adjustment, finished with USM 40ish% @1pxl.
postpostchallenge; I've discovered that my monitor was getting definitely softer with old age. I've changed monitors now :) (and yes, this looks too sharp now) |

| For me, this seems overly sharpened or overly processed where it reminds me more of a 1960s psychedelic illustration rather than a photo. Not quite my thing as far as the photoshop work goes, but that's just my taste. |

| Seems to be over-sharpened. But that may be deliberate because of the interesting pencil-drawing-like effect on the tail feathers. |
