There's a bit of a story behind this picture hehe
When I was going through my shots for April looking to see if I had any decent shots for the Free Study, I came across an outtake where the swan had just poked its head into the water, and the shape of his head and the reflection made a great triangle shape. I don't have the shot to hand, but will post it later.
This was shortly after the triangle composition challenge was announced and an idea immediately popped in my head - I must try and get another shot like that! Unfortunately, time and swans didn't co-operate, but I managed to think of a title that would let me crowbar it in to this challenge :-)
This shot isn't quite the shot I had in mind, and I wonder if someone will say it doesn't quite communicate "thirst" - it's not drinking but dunking its head in the water, which was what I was trying for. Still, after I saw this shot I'd captured, I liked the splash and it stayed :-)
What I learned from all of this process - swans are un-coperative little so-and-sos when you want them to do a prticular thing grrrr :-( |

Greetings from the Critique Club!
A great, well timed capture. You went in a little too tight as there isn't a lot of room above the neck and the head in the reflection has been lopped off.
Nice high shutter speed to stop the motion. Its too bad that where the neck meets the head wasn't a bit sharper but it doesn't look like a focus problem since pretty everything else in the scene is in good focus.
The composition works well as the body , the neck and the ripples in the water create leading lines that move the eye to where the action is.
The color are nicely saturated without being taken too far.

Great detail in your image. My favorite part of your image is the lower left corner and the reflections. |

Sharpness and colour are good. a couple of hundredths of a second earlier would have made this a great photo. |
