This is your first portrait session? Are you sure? I'm very impressed!

This is BEAUTIFUL! I bet Jess LOVES this. She looks so comfortable and natural in the photo and the pose is perfect: tastefully sexy :)

In this one the light is much better - less harsh, still could be softer.

Also good pose and great model.

From a woman's perspective, I think it is a bit harsh. The lighting seems slightly yellow, but maybe that's just my monitor. I might soften her facial features (around the eyes) just a smidge - not enough to make it look fake, but to make it more flattering. I like the pose. I might have included more of her arms at the bottom. I'm no expert, but that's my take on it. ;~)

She's lovely.

I'm wondering if the pose doesn't suit her age a bit - it's a little 'cutesy'. Not sure how old she is, but her eye creases seem to indicate she's older.

Additionally don't fancy the cut off arms.

Lighting is much better here. The pose looks a bit awkward and those stray hairs are still distracting.

Nice lighting on this one, pose is okay, I think there is too much depth from her head to her legs, maybe its they way she's laying. Nice portrait all around, nice quality.

I really like this one. The light isn't as harsh. Your are improving fast. Wonderful. Great pose.

It's not really the pose that's awkward, it's the crop. She looks kind of amputated in an odd way, lol. Really though, you are on the right tract and these are wonderful for the first time.

Steve,

this is a nice shot. Though I have to agree with others that the pose seems a bit cumbersome. But the more I think of it, the more I believe the next poster is right.... it's the crop. If we saw her elbow & second hand it would appear different. But she seems happy in it & that's what counts. My thoughts would be f/stop.... I was told to shoot at a larger f/stop when I shot Andrea's. I shot with the 70-200 at f/2.8, wide open, just to ensure shallow dof. Here you're shooting at f/5. At say f/2.8 you'd reduce her "lines" by her eyes as most women don't like to see those this clearly.

Past that I think the lighting is lovely & that you've got a nice shot here.

Lil

Lighting is great here. Would echo the awkward pose comment though. idnic is really good at these kinds of portraits - you might check her portfolio for posing ideas.

Not sure I understand how it's awkward, she was just laying there. Would it appear better if her legs were straight out behind her instead of "stacked?"

This looks pretty good. Her one hand look like it is twice the size of the other. But the lighting on the face is pretty good and she looks comfortable.

I can't give you critical feedback, I've not shot studio portraits before, but it looks darn good to me. Her pose looks a tiny bit awkward, but her face is relaxed and genuine. Very lovely :)
