Chris thought that Michelle had been acting strange lately. She was quiet and withdrawn so he thought that maybe it was something he had done or said. Flowers! Flowers are always a good idea. It worked... when he surprised her with a dozen roses, he discovered what was wrong with Michelle.

I viewed this photo last night on my daughters computer and was surprised by how much brighter it was and how bad it looks when you shine light into the corners. So if you have a bright monitor then turn it down a little to get the effect of the photo as it was intended. You know it is dark enough if Chris does NOT have a bald spot.

Very creative. The expression on his face makes the whole thing very authentic. Very good, dramatic lighting. Congrats on top 10.

Ron!!!!

Many congratulations of the top ten finish, which I thought was thoroughly deserved. This shot met the challenge perfectly

I love the lighting on Kris's face (and the understated but clever lighting on the roses) and the wonderful expressions/body language on all the subjects

A very evocative image and more pwer to you for having been able to pull it together so brilliantly

This goes beyong photography and into the realms of story telling which is exactly what was required

Perfect

I think this captures the essence of the challenge intent. I don't pay much attention to captions, but yours is icing on the cake. A high score from me.

A tad dark for me, almost missed the roses. But the story and sentiment are there - thanks to wide open blinds. Gee, think those scoundrels would be more private.

Great story telling!! I can't decide whether I would have preferred it cropped to a vertical or not. Good play on emotions as well.
