 This little dumpling is ten month-old Hannah, or more affectionately known in our center as "Hannah Banana" or "Hannah Montana" or any variation thereof. ;) She was born in late July, and came to our center at 4 weeks old. We've literally watched her grow up before our eyes. She was a preemie, and was very tiny. She's still a little on the small side, but dynamite comes in small packages!

Hannah's mom is a junior. She is a tiny little thing as well. She and her boyfriend (Hannah's daddy) live together with his parents and brother. He works full-time and seems to be providing well for them. Hannah is always clean, always has what she needs, and is a very happy baby. Her mommy is quite a sweet young woman, but she is wise beyond her years...she's seen a lot and has experienced a lot in her short 17 years. Her own upbringing was riddled with traumatic experiences, as she had a very transient life with her mother. She has a lot of hopes and dreams for herself as well as for her daughter. She is a good mother, and she offers a lot of advice to the young women who come into the program after just finding out about their pregnancies. I enjoy talking to her and I also love to see her interacting with Hannah. I have high hopes that Hannah can break the cycle that her mom and grandmother have been part of and will grow up to achieve all the dreams her family and I have for her.

Laurie, I love how you are giving us the story along with the photo. It makes me stop and think that there are still young folks out there trying to do the right thing. This is a beautiful image, these photos would make wonderful gifts for these young parents!

Your stories are so emotive, and the images fit them so perfectly. It must really fill your heart to be a part of these babies lives in such a wonderful way. Her eyes are beautiful!
