 An informal settlement (political speak for a squatter camp) built in and around the old cottages built as workers accommodation by a brickworks. All the cottages were built with high quality, highly glazed bricks. Not that you can see many of them with all the other structures around them. It is now private property and the farmer wants nothing to do with the settlement, and the municipality can't do anything because it is private. About 100 families live here, and the vast majority are jobless.

they still drink coke
they still have cats as pets
and they still manage to have a chow-chow as a pet dog

i'm not always a fan of selective desat, but it works really well here. was i influenced by the fact that it's obviously africa? maybe. but the tones and composition really work well here, the emptiness in the middle of chaos just make it. the implied line leading from coke, through cat to dog energise the whole piece, in a quiet and slightly menacing way.

nice title and crop.

Not sure if it tells a story unless round your way whenever Cats and Dogs get together they drink their way through bottles of Coke :- )

But still a nice shot.
