I was determined to shoot for this challenge, but found myself with very little time. Didn't get a chance to shoot my original idea, but ended up with a choice of two possibles ... this pony portrait, or another shot of a sheep which I quite liked. I've stuck with the pony theme, and hope I've made the right choice. This was one of a dozen mares out on Winsford Hill, Exmoor, seven of which are accompanied by new foals.

In response to your request for comments.

I gave this a 4. Quite a nice capture with her eyes and the mane / hair blowing in the wind. Depending what you had to work with, perhaps a variation in cropping, including a nudge rotate up on the right to straighten. The centered composition isn't as strong as something off-centered may have been in my opinion, but again, depends what you had to work with. The tone itself perhaps a little strong (especially on the pink side) but that could be intentional. A variation in the hue/tone may have brought out more features as well. Overall the focus seems a bit soft, but could be a result of the pp.

After reading your comments, perhaps there were better images to be had of some mares with foals, but who knows.

I didnt vote in this challenge, there is some nice textures to the shot but the overall hue isnt a sepia color IMO, There is not tonal range or much contrast to it. It also feels very cramped inside the space.

Hope this helps.

As per your feedback request ....
The tight crop bothers me a little, I'm not sure the sepia conversion really adds anything to the photo (for me) a larger tonal range seems to be better.
Maybe a wider angle with some trees may have helped.
I guess sepia should have a softer feel to it but personally I like this a little better with approx 50% @ 1px USM applied.
I didn't vote in this challenge but if I had I'd be giving you a 6.

Not keen on the central composition, but like the textures and depth of field.

Looks like an old film photo. Super.
