Thanks to all for encouraging! I waited for about two hours for the girl to turn back and give a good smile. She was not aware that I was taking her photograph. This is taken at 300mm, so i was quite far.
I had limited freedom to move about and take the shot as I did not want to disturb the suroundings , and specailly the girl child. It was good fun...waiting to get a good shot!

Hard to decipher the lone small Pizza box. Good idea otherwise. More points for the title than the image though. |

WOW! This is honestly one of the best photos I've ever seen on this site! 10 - lisae
Hmm... I should elaborate, it was quite late at night here when I wrote that, and I'd been drinking some scotch :). I love your use of depth of field and framing around the little girl to make her such a strong focal point. Her wide-eyed little urchin expression is so universal and intense, in the midst of what is obviously some crushing poverty. This is the kind of photo that makes me wish I could change the world. That's a huge achievement. |

I saved this photo for last, as I couldn't quite make up my mind what I thought about it. Not that I didn't like it. It is mesmerizing, in fact. That face! Those eyes! That red dress and earrings! But I kept feeling like she was the object of the photo instead of the garbage. She is more in focus than the trash. But yet, the trash is there. And as well executed as some of these garbage photos are, none has evoked emotions like this one. The more I look at it, and those eyes look at me, I think this is not only an excellent photo for the challenge, but one of the few that I would ever even want to look at again. This is my only 10 this week. |

I guess I'm failing to see the pizza part of this photo. There is definately garbage in the shot. The main focus to me seems the child, as the child is really the only thing in focus. The lighting is good for this shot though. I like the angle and framing/cropping. My only complaint is the focus, and the blurry spot near the bottom right corner. Overall a nice mood though. Good luck in the challenge. ~hbunch7187~ |

I actually wish more of the photo were in focus so that I could relate your title to it. The only relationship I can make is "hut". I also find the metal cylinder very distracting - blocks my view. Overall though, the photo appeals to my sympathy for the living conditions. |

I love this shot. It is by far my favorite of the challenge. Your DOF is awesome. I'm amazed that you caught the girl in such great focus. Her dress makes your eyes go straight to her, but the color in the boxes on the right helps move your eye across the pic. My only suggestion would have been to move whatever is in the extreme foreground and created those very blurry blobs along the bottom of the shot. 10 ~indigo997 |
