This is from a really fun shoot I did with a dancer from my dance class and some baby powder. I wanted to do some ballet portraits but I wanted to do something different from the classic portraits you see of most dancers. I had originally bought the baby powder to spread in the air to create a hazy feel to the photos, but we quickly realized that the powder wouldn't stay in the air long enough so I had her experiment with throwing it. This was my favorite photo from the shoot and I help it does well.

This was underrated. It's one thing for DPC voters to overlook artistic images, but to skip a magazine quality image like this one... well... it looks really bad.

I really like this and easily would have give it a "10" if I had voted on it.

The lighting is excellent, just a beautiful image.

Excellent poise and drama. Magnificent lighting and conversion. Twenty times better than the outtake. I would have preferred the shot without the dancer looking directly at the camera - I think a greater appearance of concentration would give the impression of total immersion in her art and would significantly add to the drama of the image. Great work, I hope to see more like it!

Wonderful. Although I like this one better, I bet the outtake would have scored higher.

Absolutely beautiful. My granddaughter is a dancer and I have to try this set up with her. Anxious to see how it was done.

Spectacular lighting, and those puffs of dust she's casting out add the perfect creative touch.

Alittle more lighting from the front would have increased the dramatic impact.

I must confess my complete lack of knowledge on the topic of this shot, so I don't know if the chalk/cloud has any relevance to dance (im thinking in terms of grip/stability), but I think it adds so much to an already incredible shot. Your choice of side lighting works so well here, you certainly captured the perfect moment! Well done.
