I'm doing the photography for a chef-friend of mine who's currently finishing up an Asian "fusion" cookbook (due for release late this year). For the past 4 weekends, I've been taking shots of demo dishes and, of course, gobbling them all up afterwards :). This one's salad with mesquite-smoked chicken. For this pic, levels were slightly adjusted, and wee bit USM applied.

Looks VERY appetizing! Nice job with perspective & DOF. The slight bright spots on the left are a bit distracting.

Great colors and focus. I like the sans-plate setup and the contrast of the metal fork with the food. The food styling is a bit messy, and the glare from the one bell pepper is distracting.

Composition a bit too busy and lighting is somewhat too hot resulting in some blown out hightlights but color is nicely saturated. Also, focus should be much deeper to include the whole of this salad, and not just the area of the fork and leaf above the fork.

likes - colorful, creative,
dislikes - not seeing the bottom of the fork, hot spots on the left hand side
Would like to have a full DOF, rather then blurring out

This is almost uncomfortable to look at. The cheese if that is what it is makes it looks spoiled. The food looks like it is sitting on the plate as an afterthough.

Clever, I like it!
