 One of 15 abandoned (or nearly so) grain elevators in and around Buffalo, N.Y. This one was built in the early 20th century, when Buffalo was in its heyday as the leading grain shipment port in the world.

Taken with my canon EF 28-135mm USM IS zoom lens, Photoshop was used to clean up some debris in the water. Channel mixer was the mechanism for removing the color. Unsharp mask and contrast applied for final touch-up.

This is a very good photograph. The strong shadow under the bow deck give the ship character, and the grain elevator, out of use, is a familiar(but not cliched) picture of industrial blight. There is a deserted feel to the place.

I like the sepia effect here, though it could be a little more saturatied. It looks as if the boat is sitting on sand not water. Love the topic.
