Thanks for your comments on this. Any advice on taking a shot directly into a street light? The shot was painterly to begin with but getting rid of noise really brought that out after lighting up the dark edges.

I want thank everyone for their comments on this one. And also ask some advice from more experienced photogs. The problem here was shooting directly at a street light. In order to keep the center from being totally blown out, I lost a lot of detail at the edges. The original shot was rather painterly looking, likely because of a Vivid color setting. Then when I brought out the darker areas, there was a lot of noise. The addition of noise reduction and some blurring ( the first two steps in any "painting" filter) brought out that aspect more. But I still liked the picture. Attached is the original. Any advice on how I could have captured a better shot to begin with?

This is well taken. I don't suppose you could have found a better angle. The light is just a tiny bit overexposed, but that is impossible to calculate. there is tremendous atmosphere in the shot. Perhaps a figure, even one inside the building would have completed the effect.

This image has such a painterly feel to it that I almost think it's a photograph of a painting or you applied a filter in PS. Did you? I like the color and the perspective showing all the windows of the gallery.

I think I'd even like it more in black and white. The colors here are quite intriguing, however. Nice job.

I'm unconvinced about the processing here - sure, it's a legitimate entry, and all legal and everything, but it takes what would appear to me to have been rather a fine photograph into the realms of something else. I see a connection between the subject and the treatment too, but don't find it holds much appeal.

This feels very softened and painterly rather than photographic. Did you add blur?

Painterly-less photo like. I love filters yes I do, but on dpc you pay a price. This is very nice...don't get me wrong. I like it a lot. Just not photo like for here.

This reminded me of an Edward Hopper painting. Excellent colors, lighting and control over your technicals. Good seeing.

Excellent image. Very compelling. Love that all the windows are ablaze with light and it looks very inviting inside. Nice painting effects...
