 This was taken down at my local park.
I was trying out the cheaper Canon 75-300mm lens. I thought it did a pretty good job, and really liked this close up.
I compared it with a past entry of mine here, 'Down by the Sea'. Wow, it's night and day.
I guess the cameras have advanced and maybe I have too.
Not too many adjustments on this. I brightened the eye, deepened the blacks and brought out the yellow and orange just a little. Slight cloning in the sky as I have some sensor dust. Also did levels and cropped.

Great work! Stunningly sharp and a perfect crop. This should have placed WAY higher, in my meaningless opinion, lol.

Who says you need L glass? hehe

Nice job! The gulls around here don't look quite like this. The red around the eyes is amazing!

Absolutely stunning clear and crispy colours... DOF might be a little bit too shallow on the right side. Still a 10 from me.

Great shot - amazing that the background is such a great medium gray - the smoothness makes a wonderful contrast to the textures of the birds head and beak. Just wonderful. - 8
