The processing on this one was relatively simple to get the soft focus. First off the flower itself was very slightly out of focus. My error, I took it at too fast a shutter speed.

First I duplicated the layer. I applied a bit of curves to the top layer to darken it and make the color of the flower pop a bit more. The bottom layer then was treated with a Gaussian blur. The top layer was set to soft focus. I left the opacity at 100%. I then set up a mask to hide some of the flower in the top layer so it came out with a bit more of the blur from the bottom layer.

After that is was flatten the image resize and save it.

That blue really pops off the screen compared to the rest; it looks fantastic. Did you use the Orton effect or something similar on this?

The softness of the photo really works here, I like the positioning/composition of the photo. The only thing i would suggest is to take the yellowing flower right in the middle of the frame out as it really competes with the subject for attention.

Love the wonderful blue against the rich dark foliage- the softness works well for this :)

A good use of controlled blur - adds a delicateness appropriate to the flower.

Lovely. Vincas are so delicate and shapely. The soft focus is very effective. Good stuff!

This is a feast for the eyes. The soft focus is perfect. The biege areas are a little confusing at first, because they're hard to resolve, compared to the blue flowers and green foliage which are easy to identify right away.

I love the soft focus, it really gives it that little extra bit of "magic". It has a very mystical feel to it.

I like the soft focus here. It appears a tad dark on my monitor.
