I was taking some levels on a proposed building site today at Bankstown. For those of you that don't know the area, it is very densly populated and has two main motorways running through it that lead to the Sydney CBD. It has a light aircraft landing strip also - some say the busiest airport in Australia. Well, noise didn't worry this bloke, he was having a snooze on a 10000 volt transmission line.
Focal length 370mm.

Looking at the thumbnail I thought this was a bat of some sort. What a cool little creature this is. I like how he stands out against the blue background and how the line cuts diagonally through the picture.

What a great opportunity you had to capture this gem. And, of course, the diagonal just adds that finishing touch of perfection.

That's just crazy to see it sleeping like that. Nice find and again a great job for that focal length.

I sure wouldn't want to see a 1000 of those coming at me! Why isn't he sleeping in a cave where he belongs? Incredible photograph, Greg. this lens is really coming in handy, isn't it? Thanks for the bat info, btw.

What an amazing capture..... I love the blue sky as it is a great consrast against the sleeping bat.....

It also reminds us photographers to LOOK UP, LOOK UP, LOOK UP a lot more.....

Wow that guy is big. I like the angle that you have presented this on. the Boarder really is a nice addition to this photo. Great detail and sharpness at that focal length.

Amazing shot. Great that you kept the detail and enough light on the subject without blowing out the sky.

What a FABULOUS photo! Thank you so much for sharing the story too. It makes it even more interesting. That is so amazing. I sure hope there weren't any kinks in the electrical current. That cute little fellow would have a RUDE awakening, wouldn't he.

Oh I love a good Flying Fox. Found this AMAZING place in Melbourne in January, where you can see thousands upon thousands in broad daylight - didn't get the best image of them but here you go...
