I've sometimes done the same. Did some selections, or other advanced rule editing and then realized I couldn't do it. I frequently find myself going back to the site to double check what ruleset a challenge is using. |

If you mounted the camera (put it on a book or something, if you don't have a tripod handy) you could close down the aperture, use a longer exposure and gain the depth of field that would allow you to have the tips in focus as well as the rest. Check it out.
Nice idea, shame about the dq :-) |
Oh- I don't mind the "DQ" I actually asked them to remove my image before the voting completed-because I realized it was a 'basic-editing' and i used the clone-stamp (got confused, last minute clicked on an entry and didn't pay full attention to what i was doing- i was originally gonna toss this into the DNMC challenge then changed my mind...which is where the 'duh' occurred) :)
the tips of these are very very 'soft' they're 'wax' -- i'll definatly try your suggestion sometime... they're not actual 'pencils' they're wax crayons; silly random stuff i have laying around the house...

I asked to have myself DQ'ed after I realized that I used the clone stamp and it was a 'basic' editing challenge (i was teeter-tottering between which challenge to enter it into the DNMC or something else -and got a bit confused; oh well- learn from ones mistakes! one of my mottos)
these are wax-crayons (so the tip is very difficult to get to 'look' in focus- i'll definatly try to reshoot these sometime tho for the sillyness of it sometime) thank you all for your comments/suggestions! i appreciate the time you took to help me improve my art!

Nice, though I think the focus needed to be on the points of the pencils, or it needed better overall DOF. |

I'd like to see the tips of the pencils in sharper focus. |

Nice photo. It has some warm (red, orange, yellow) colors, but it is not primarily warm so you may lose points because of that. I did like the joke! |

Focus is on the bark - would be nice to see it on the leads |
