 Shot during another trip to Banham Zoo - am loving it there and now have an Annual pass (but promise to submit different subjects).

Suprisingly I had 5 or 6 shots to choose from this month (most from Snowdonia) but went with this as, well, I prefer it (and was easy to edit from RAW).

Would love to see this in my top 5 and hope the voters think the same :)

Editing....
Convert from RAW
New layer and convert to B&W
Brought back the eyes
A couple of sharpen/NI passes
D&B in some areas
Cropped and resized.

WOW! was in the inner hebrides during voting so could not follow my scores - my first 7+ score, second yellow AND a PB - thanks to all!

Congrats Andi, cracking shot :o) Just a shame you couldn't be online all week to see it on the frontpage! Glad you finally hit the magic 7 and you'll be even more chuffed to know mine was only 7.0435! Lovely shot Andi, I had the chance to see a snowy owlet(?) up close this summer, the cutest ball of grey fluff...but it certainly had those huge feet/talons, piercing eyes and bill! I imagine it looks a lot like your magnificent owl by now!

LOL am sure you are right, its just that I've never scored a 7 before (still a way to go) and it will help me greatly in the FSM. Also, a 7 no Ribbon icon looks quite cool

Very nice. The details are outstanding the composition is excellent. Like the catch light it's missed all to often in images like this well done. Nice deep yellow in the also.

Very wonderful! Compelling expression. Effective use of few colours. Ribbon, is my prediction. A nitpick.........I'd like the fine feathers around the eyes to be in sharp focus, rather than the 'nose' feathers.

Dear, dear dear...how many bird shots are there in this challenge?! ;o)

Seriously, I think this is an excellent shot. I love the post processing and wonderful colour in the Owl's eyes. I think the detail in the feathers around and just underneath the beak is very nice and the close up composition really makes this a captivating shot. I hope it does well for you :o)
