 Yup, it's a cheese grater.

I used my close-up filter on my 70-200 for this shot. I have a single light illuminating a piece of orange poster board and a second light lighting the grater from the right. The purple hue came from creating a full screen image of purple in Photoshop and then pointing my monitor towards the shot. It was pretty subtle until I punched up the vibrance in Lightroom.

Here are two outtakes. I struggled over which one to go with for a while. I think these two are more in line with the spirit of the challenge, I just don't think they are as interesting to look at. They say to always go with your first reaction. Well I didn't here, and I may pay the price.

I really like the textures and colors you've created here. I might hve opted to leave out the bottom with a 3x4 crop as the bottom section doesn't add much for me. You could do more of these fun shots for the March Macro side-challenge (if you haven't already). Nice job.
