the environment tells me nothing of the subject because there is no environment to be seen. nice portrait though |

There may be an environment here but it's not discernable. It's a nice image otherwise so I hope you're not getting killed by your score. |

You can't really tell this person is a comedian |

Strange situation for me. As a portrait, I really like this shot. Great expression, nice angle of shot and nice angle of subject. Good coloring, all the things that make good portraits. There is no environment except a black cloth. So there is nothing to define your subject except the title. And here is where it gets weird...the title actually detracts for the portrait. Obviously, he is a stand-up comic by profession and you are telling us this. But by the title, I expect a different sort of portrait presentation. This puts me in an odd position for voting... |

Nice portrait, although I am not sure it screams stand up comic to me. Compositionally strong and I like the slightly unusual positioning of the subject. Good technicals. especially given his checked shirt |

We don't get enough photos that show emotion like this. I thought this guy looked like he would be funny before I read the title, I really like it. |

Well-done portrait, but I wish I could see some of his environment. |

Don't really understand the environment part. It says stand-up comic but there's no mic or something to indicate he's a comic. Technically speaking though it's a nice portrait. |

Nice portrait and nice lighting on the face. However, without the title it is just a well groomed man standing in front of a black backdrop. The environment (nothing in this picture) does not convey anything to do with stand up comedy. Maybe a microphone on the right would help fill the empty space on that side of the image. And, it may be cheesy or cliche, but how bout a red brick wall for a background? ...4 |

Good lighting and interesting composition. But there is nothing here that tells me this guy is a stand-up comic. So in short, the photo is lacking the basic part of an env. portrait - the environment itself. |

Nice portrait, I like the composition, ligthting and facial expression. My main problem is that I do not see ANY environment. |

Not much in his "environment" to suggest where it was taken. Looks too much like a studio kind of shot really.
A stage, crowd, etc in the background would have done this much better justice. |

Nice sharp image, I think I'd like to see more of his environment though ... maybe a couple of audience members or a mic or something |

Not a bad portrait, but I think it misses the mark on the challenge by not showing him in the act of performing stand-up. Without a crowd or even a microphone, it's not really showing him in his environment. |

This would be been better with him in action in front of an audience or something. Just looking at the photo, I see no "environment" that gives me a clue as to his occupation. On the positive and technical sides, the lighting is great and the photo is crisp. (I don't want to punish you, so I'm not voting on this one) |
