Finally figured this one out. The tree is the "subject" the ice and frigid water is the environment. This was difficult for me because the focus does not seem to be on the tree. In fact, I couldn't find any element that had enough focus to be the actual subject. Now, I will admit a higher pixilated shot might be different. This could be stunning in the raw, but reducing it might have "damaged" the focus. So the fact that I think it is oof might not be the reality of things. It just makes it seem real flat to me. |

I don't think this meets the challenge, as it is not a portrait. |

good scenery, but either i can't find the subject, or this isn't really a portrait. |

Oooooooooo man this is EXACTLY the sort of picture that sprung to mind when I read the challenge dtitle, however from reading threads on the challenge it appears that environmental portrait means something quite different. No doubt you are getting dinged all over the shop for this interpretation, but looking at it in the spirit that it was taken I would say that it is a nice 'message' shot, though perhaps could have been a touch sharper |

hmmm, I'm afraid I don't get it. It probably has to do with ice floating where it should not, but I don't see the relation to the challenge. No vote.
Nice pic though, like the composition. It could have used a little more dark tones and a little more saturation to make it stand out more. |

Hmmm. kind of blurry, and also the iceberg is overexposed. Lighting was too harsh to get a good balance of lights and darks. Perhaps a different time of day. |

Portrait, according to Merriam-Webster: a pictorial representation of a person usually showing the face
I can see stretching the definition for an animal, maybe...but not an inanimate object or scenery. |

Nice photo but I think you may have missed the challenge as to me a portrait is of a person (or animal) ... |
