 this is close up of one of our outdoor heaters out by the pool - and i slowed down the shutter speed to catch the blue flame

I thought this would place at least in the upper half of the pack. Maybe it was a little to abstract for this challenge. BTW, if you are interested, I gave it an 8.

beautiful colours, wonderful abstraction, just enough information to let us know the subject. the composition is fab, in fact the whole is that wonderful combination of surface beauty and brains that we see so seldom. a very satisfying work.

Nice, simple, bold, composition. I think the graduant of colors across the wick adds a lot to the image. Wish there'd been a bit more contrast there.

So close I can't tell what I'm looking at. If it is a flame, what is the grid pattern particularly in the orange area?
