This is gonna get hammered, but I love the bokeh chain link fence. I'm sure 90% of the people will miss it, since it is so subtle.

Personally I think this is a very clever photo and deserved to do better but I didnt vote on this one so dont know what the rest of the entries were like, still dont think this should have finished so low.

I am so sorry this got hammered like it so undeservingly did! I love the capture of that tiger's eyes, and the bokeh fence says it all!

One thing I've learned about these dpc voters: If you are not IN-YOUR-FACE on a no-mistake-about-what-the-subject-is topic, you WILL pay! I think its sad. And I think it ends up creating too many contrived boring images, but it's been a nerve that has gotten no relief in the almost 4 years I've been a member. Sigh. I'm sorry your tiger is the latest casualty :(

I really like what you did with the fence.

It's a guranteed that people hate shots taken through fences... personal experience speaking here. You got a 5 from me mainly because I felt the image was oversharpened.

Okay, I know my shot sucked, but this was a really good pic with an interesting concept for the fence... do people just not get it, or what? I usually don't vote in any challenge I'm in, but I would have given this a minimum 8... sorry
Frank

people son't understand anything here. Just make sure that when someone else does it that you understand where they are coming from.

I gave it a 7, I thought it was a great image.

My own entry got dinged similarly, because the fence was an element but not the main subject. I expected it, even though the description said the fence only had to be an element. Oh, well.

I think the comments made by Claire and Richard sum it up nicely. Great job.

I find it interesting that even though many the comments made were positive the average score of the commenter's still only came out to five. The best thing that I can say is to just take all the feedback you get with a grain of salt. The voters here can be really close minded, having created a set of dpc expectations that true art doesn't necessarily have to meet. If people fail to see the significance of how small the fence is and the tension created by that then that is their problem. Just keep allowing yourself to grow and find your own personal calling as an artist and follow it, don't let us hold you back.

The photo and title combined makes the fence very much the focus of this shot.

Well, Mike, you called it! You knew people were gonna say "this is a shot of a tiger, not a fence." :P

Nice kitty! A subtle OOF fence, but it's there.

Nice image, would have liked to have seen the catch light in the eye.

This made me look twice before I saw the fence, which is the point, I assume :-) Very cool take on the challenge. I love how the fence is there but not there at the same time. 9.

I can BARELY see the fence (I know that's the point, but still).

Beautiful shot of the tiger with just a hint of the chain link fence here. Really nice!

The shot could hardly fit the challenge as the fence is almost invisible.
