Asked if he minded, he said no. Playing the blue, cooler tones of the shadows and his clothes off against the oranges and yellows of the sparks and grinder, trying to keep it to a simple complimentary colour palette.

It's probably debatable if he is 'sharp enough' but I think he is and wanted the spark trails that the slower shutter speed gave. It is also probably too candid or not obviously engaged to be considered a portrait by many.

I like it.

great capture love the flying sparks it really adds to the shot, though maybe a faster shutter speed might have defined the sparks and makde them stand out a little more.

Love the captured movement via the sparks which contrasts the sharp image of the man, and the complimentary blues and oranges.

Ooooooo...Great take on the challenge, brilliant composition and fantastic colours...unfortunately (imo) the focus seems just a touch soft (a bit tighter and I think it would have been the blue ribbon winner)

Still a very strong image congratulations

the blurred sparks draw the eye to the guy with the grinder, who looks like an interesting fellow. 7

I like the action here. You captured your subject, not just in his environment but interacting with it as well. Thank you.

One of my 3-10's for this challenge. Nicely done! Love the sparks and the concentration on the fellow's face.

Nice, the subject and environment belong together. The composition works extremely well along with the DOF. Great job!
