 Turns out my first submission of this image (submitted on March 13) would have been illegal if I had left it in (since I had used a pixel-bearing layer). Thanks frisca for getting back to me!

This image involves shadow/highlight to bring the shadows up a bit. Next, a black and white adjustment layer at 60% opacity to drop the tonality in the blues. After that, a hue/saturation adjustment layer to boost the saturation and lightness in the blues a bit. Curves to increase contrast quite a lot, and finally some sharpening with unsharp mask on the merged image.

I'll be happy with anything over 6.

Oh my. That's quite a predicament, and one of the most original in this challenge! Great comp/colors/levels and scenery. Nuff said.
