 This is Fletcher, my five year old Bengal. I know the feelings of many of the members regarding cat photos, but I decided this was the perfect challenge for me to try one. I did a little touch-up, mostly with the background. I did very little sharpening because Fletcher's fur does not handle it well. Since I am used to doing still life where the subject doesn't move and I can re-shoot as often as I want, photographing Fletcher was a bit of a challenge. After a couple of brief sessions, he wanted nothing more to do with posing. The white area on the right side of his mouth was blown-out in most of the shots I took, but I able to repair this one with a little burning and healing. Canon 50mm 1.8 lens, window light on the right, hot light on the left.

I generally don't like cat photos. This is an extraordinarily well lite cat. I think you could drop cats and dogs all day long into the potrait setup and you'd have a nice flow of side money coming in from pet lovers. Wow. I don't see anything off the mark here, and I've been looking. 10

Suitable layout, good detail and pretty eyes. The light is rather flat- no real shadows or warmth. Kind of a blank expression on kitty.

Very nice. The contrast and lighting, color, focus, everything, looks perfect. The only "problem" is the front paws are a little obscured but oh well. Still great. 8.

Crisp clean image. Cropped a bit differently it would be quite suitable for the mag, I think. Nicely done.

Tone down your flash a little with the flash exposure compensation. The eyes are beautiful and the composition is very nice too! The flash is way too bright though for the fur... too reflective. I have the same colored cat, i always have to tone down my flash for her.

Great cat photo, the lighting is possibly just a tad too harsh, and I would have liked to see more dof... his/her nose is a little too much out of focus. There is a strange blur around their left ear. Other than that, I love the mood and character of this shot.

maybe a tighter crop would improve it a little.

You can never go wrong with a cat like this.Those eyes are enchanting. You captured the softness of the coat perfectly. Great lighting, very soft yet enough for great detail I like it 10
