Some time ago, after she suffered several debilitating strokes, my grandmother's beloved sewing box was passed on to me. I could never bring myself to actually use any of the things in it; most of its contents were really just scraps kept from important sewing projects, such my mother's wedding dress and my baby blanket - but among the treasures, I found this spool of thread and decided to set my original ideas for this challenge aside. As much as I love seeing orange in photos - it's such a rarely used colour - ideas came rather sparsely to me, and this at least provided me yet another chance to take and share a sentimental photo.
Editing: Resized, curves/levels tweaked, minimal sharpening, a little hue/saturation, and a trip through the noise cleaners (NeatImage) to repair the damage of bad lighting, ISO setting, and paper quality (which is what I used as a background for lack of any other white things). Soft focus was beyond fixing, but I liked the picture anyway. |

| Nice arrangement - the spool turned out great. I'm wondering if a black background would have helped the single thread stand out better. |

| This is nice, especially that the accent is put on the orange and all the rest is blurred. Very good macro-focus! |
