Abstract

Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: Tilted (Basic Editing)
Camera: Nikon D70
Lens: Nikon AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G IF-ED
Date: Mar 3, 2008
Aperture: F/8
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/40
Date Uploaded: Mar 4, 2008

Put an egg on a glass surface and rest a spoon on top. Shoot from a downward angle to catch the reflection for this effect.

PP: Gray scale, a lot of curves, resize, usm, border

Took me a while to setup my stone age lighting (controlling light for proper reflection) but only took a couple of shots to get what I liked.
Forgot to clean the spoon properly (duh!). I would have cloned out some dirt specs on the spoon, if it was allowed by editing rules.

Congrats on your high placement, Abstract! It's well deserved. I was one of your ten 10s and I don't give many 10s. *smile*

I am glad to see that others thought the same when I first saw it. It is still very clever and without those 5-2s, you would have Ribboned. Not cool!

Thank you very much everyone for nice comments throughout the challenge and votes. I am glad that I was able to surprise some people with this shot.
BTW Five 2s? I always expect a couple of trolls, but five people? I fail to understand the reason. May be I should have spelled out "reflection" in the title.
anyways thank you all again for your support and encouragement :)

interesting... Guessing black plexiglass. I think that its a tad underexposed. Your whites are still kinda grey. Good shit, but needs just a bit more work imho

Well done. How'd did you get the eggs (and spoons) to cooperate?

Good use of tilting the image to help create the illusion.

Nice image... I love the lack of a visible "horizontal" (or what would have originally been the horizontal), and that the viewer is forced to deduce where it is from the reflection. I love images that make me think.

Or mirrored?
Its the new and approved egg cracker :-P

A little blunt for my tastes, but nonetheless well composed and creative. More contrast on the lower egg would have sold the illusion.

Like the effect! Cant tell if its a single spoon and egg with a reflective surface or if its two of each.
