I didn't realize how difficult it is to take a picture of a spoon without seeing yourself in the reflection. So I learned something from this challenge.

Love the spoon and it's shadow/reflection, however I think it might have been more effective to just shoot it, and leave the top part out.

The trick is you hide the bowl part of the spoon and only photograph the handle... :-) I know what you mean, though - it's hard to avoid the reflections since spoons make such good but warped mirrors. A simple elegant setting - the reflected blue makes me think of summer for some reason, and the promise of ice cream in that dish behind the spoon. From a compositional standpoint, I think the horizontal line between the spoon and the glassware is an interruption of sorts - I think that's where the table surface changes, yes?

Interesting. I wonder how this would look if it wasn't so straight on, like if you rotated it about 45 degrees.
