The background works really well with this. There's just enough in it to provide interest, yet not so much that it takes over. |

Good composition. You can soften the light by simply taping a piece of typing paper in a circular fashion creating a tube around your built-in flash. That being said I don't think it was drastically too harsh. Good work. |

I like that you focused sharply on the flower center, thus leaving the puffiness around it nicely soft. I like the nice dark BG. In a perfect world, I do wish the bottom of the image was cleaned up (I read the other comments) but I totally agree with you for not disturbing nature. IMO, there better to be in your picture then taken away from where they should be. A good start! |

I like how you captured the soft texture of this. |

Hey, Sean, we meet again ! This is a lovely shot of I think -dandelion ! You captured the soft fuzzies very well. |

My first thought was that it looked a bit soft focused, but then I think soft focus is very appropriate here. Those puffy seed balls are soft after all. Nice work. Maybe a tighter crop to not have so much empty space though. |

I'm always like these fluffy things. Nice combination with the brown "flower". Perhaps you should have taken that one green leaf away. |

I like the detail in the middle and softness around the edges. Gives the picture a nice touch. Great DOF. |

So soft, but also bery dramatic against that black background.
A fine macro indeed..... |

The lighting isn't too harsh. I can feel the softness in the old yellow flower. Great composition. |

I actually quite like the lighting on the 'fluffy bits'. I think I would have done a bit of 'gardening' around the head of the old flower as the leaves are a little distracting. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with tomorrow! ;o) |

Great image. Would have a lot more impact with a much tighter crop, even square. The inclusion of the dead plant really gives a nice contrast to the seeds. |

These things are always good. I think I'd like to see more detail around the edges - so perhaps a bit more DOF would be good. I think it is just the hairs furtherest away that are just out of focus. Of course it might just be my eyes fooling me and it is just the multitude of hairs in spots. |

These puffball seeds are so fun! I like how you captured the green stem, the puffball, and the dead part of another flower that's already been blown away showing many parts of the life cycle of this flower. The lighting on this one seems a bit harsh like you used a flash? Anyway, thanks for reminding me that I have some old seed pods tucked away somewhere that would be great for this macro challenge! |

I would have thought it was a dandylion without your description. Nice DOF with very sharp object of the shot. Good representation of flower retirement. |
