 I was waiting around in the lobby at Mississippi College for my oldest daughter to finish some music contests and I noticed the interesting play of light on the floor with the sun streaming in a window...I had Mary sit in front of the column with a beam of light hitting the side of her face and got down on the floor with her.

By the way, Morgan received Superior + in both piano theory and playing :)

First - yay for Morgan! It's always fun to celebrate the accomplishments of our children.

Second - the lighting in this really makes the photo. The way it falls across her face and creates that shadow makes a striking impression. I like how the lighting also brightens up the background too. Good catch and lucky you that Mary would actually sit and pose for you lol.

I find this a fine celebration of the ordinary. I know that doesn't sound grand, but I like it - celebrating the ordinary. The use of the available light to show us just so much, from what is close to blown to what is in obscurity, gives us all we need to know about this moment in Mary's day.

Great lighting and nicely set up. I really like the on the floor angle you shot this in as it brings you down to her level. This has a great emotive and somber feel to it, like a girl scorned by her friends left to sulk in the hall and contemplate what went wrong. nicely done!

Quite an eery shot! I like the harsh contrast between light and shadow. You can create so many stories from this shot and guess provoking the viewer to think is what this is all about so well done! And hope Mary got paid for this very professional looking shot! her expression make it even better.

The dramatic lighting goes very well with the dramatic mood of the child. A slightly tighter crop would well here also.

Very nice interplay of light and shadows, the light accentuates the facial expression, giving a "dark" feel to the image.

I really like this Jason. The light is so dramatic. And her somber expression adds to the moodiness of the photo. Beautiful work as always.

she's a cutie. I think the light may be a little too bright. It would be nice if the shadows on her right side were a little less dark. I like the composition a lot though.

Mary doesn't look all that excited about being there. I like the somewhat hard shadows on her face, and think they add to the overall mood of the photo. I like it.
